Legacy chat - Echoes of You ("we", "us") operates Forever Chat and is the data controller for the personal data described here — we decide why and how it is processed.

What we collect and why

• Account data — name, email address, password credentials and (if you sign in with Google) your basic Google profile. Used to create and secure your account and to contact you about the Service. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
• Profile and legacy data — nickname, birthday, birthplace, city, state, gender, occupation, family details, photos, and everything you choose to record: answers, stories, teachings, quotes, vault files, and voice and video recordings. Used to build your legacy and generate conversations for the people you give access to. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you; some of this may be sensitive information, which we process because you have chosen to provide it for this purpose.
• Access and relationship data — legacy access codes, who has redeemed them, and the relationship they state. Used to control who can see your legacy. Legal basis: contract.
• Invitation data — the email address and relationship of people you invite. Used solely to send that one invitation on your behalf. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in letting users invite their family.
• Usage, device and log data — IP address, device and browser information, and interaction logs. Used for security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting and improving the product. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Support messages — what you send us. Used to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interests and contract.

Who we share it with

• Service providers — hosting, database and file storage, email delivery, and the AI providers that process your content to generate responses. They act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes.
• Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of subscriptions, payments, subscription management, tax compliance and invoicing.
• People you authorise — anyone holding your current legacy access code can see the legacy content you have recorded. Reset the code at any time to revoke this.
• Professional advisers and authorities — legal or accounting advisers, and authorities where we are required to disclose by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

Retention

We keep your legacy content for as long as your account is active, because preservation is the point of the Service. If a legacy is unpaid and frozen for 30 days, its content is permanently deleted. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data except where we must keep records for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, row-level database security so users can only read what they are entitled to, and private storage with time-limited signed links for media.

Your rights

Subject to the law where you live, you can request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests; where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Much of this you can do yourself in the app. Email support@legacychat.live and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. Data may be processed outside your country by our providers; where required we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and to keep the Service secure. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, but you will not be able to stay signed in.
